DISABLED SUPPORTERS

Information on the disabled facilities we have at AESSEAL New York Stadium...

Disabled Supporter areas are sponsored by ASD Lighting.

At Rotherham United we offer a concession price to any supporter who qualifies for high rate Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or enhanced Personal Independent Payment (PIP). Proof will need to be shown at the time when you are purchasing you tickets. If you are a home supporter, we will register you on the system and update your account for that season. We will need to see the latest letter you have received from the DWP dated the current year and we will ask to see the latest letter each season. Away supporters will purchase their tickets from their club in advance and if purchasing on the day, they will need to bring their latest paperwork to prove the concession.

If you qualify for the higher rate DLA or enhanced (PIP) then you would also be entitled to an additional free carer should you require one. Prices for the individual fixtures can be found HERE.

As part of the build of The AESSEAL New York Stadium, Rotherham United have made a huge effort to ensure that the stadium is as friendly and accessible as possible for our disabled fans.

The stadium has six raised wheelchair platforms (with at least one in each of the four stands) each consisting of at least seven combined wheelchair and helper bays. In addition there are three high level platforms all of which are easily accessible by elevator which take our total number of wheelchair and helper bays up to 113 for the stadium.

The ground has disabled toilet facilities in each stand and area and also has 20 specific disabled parking spaces close to the ground with a drop off point outside the North West or North East corner of the stadium. The club has rest points outside the KCM Recycling North Stand and the Ben Bennett Family East Stand.

If supporters are visiting the AESSEAL New York Stadium for the first them and want to have a familiarisation walk around then please contact the Disability Liaison Officer on the details below. The walk arounds will be available on non-match days and will need to be booked in at a time to suit both parties.

For further information of our ticketing arrangements and our disabled supporter services can be obtained from our Disability Liaison Officer, by contacting: 01709 827768, by email to: dlo@rotherhamunited.net or by post to:

Disabled Parking

At The AESSEAL New York stadium we have 20 disabled parking spaces which can be purchased in the form of a season long permit. In addition to this we also have a large number of other spaces which, whilst not being disabled bays, offer the opportunity for disabled fans to park at the ground, again by purchasing a season long permit. *

Unfortunately there is no match day “pay on the day” parking available, however we have a disabled drop off point situated at the North West or North East Corner of the ground enabling disabled supporters to be dropped off close to the ground where seating and assistance is available whilst a carer or helper parks the car elsewhere.

Car Parking is also available for away supporters and can be purchased by calling the Red and White Shop on 01709 827768 or emailing dlo@rotherhamunited.net with a £5 charge payable in advance.

Please note that the car park closes an hour before kick off on matchdays and any drop offs will also need to be made by this time. There may be a delay after the fixture before the car park is re-opened- for any supporters to leave the stadium. This time may vary depending on the attendance.

If you require any further information or advice please contact the Red and White Shop on 01709 827768.

*Please note that all 'season disabled permits' have been sold for the 2019/20 season. There is a Car Parking waiting list that you can add your name to by emailing dlo@rotherhamunited.net.

Accessibility Passports

Rotherham United are proud to have introduced a brand new Accessibility Passport which has been launched in an attempt to further enhance the matchday experience for disabled supporters at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

As a club, we remain committed to making matchdays enjoyable for everyone and are incredibly proud of the facilities that we are able to offer those attending first team fixtures. Beyond that, we have been grateful to the Rotherham United Disabled Supporters’ Association, who have provided us with insightful feedback which has allowed us continue to make further strides to improve.

It is important for us all to recognise that not every disability is visible and that some supporters may be impaired by a condition that doesn’t physically present itself in public. It is our role as the cornerstone of the local community to try and raise awareness that invisible disabilities exist and we, as a society, should do everything that we can to ensure equality not just for our supporters, but people everywhere.

In an attempt to continue our work on that front, the club will be introducing Accessibility Passports with immediate effect which will be recognised by not only our club staff, but also our matchday stewards.

To apply for a passport, please email dlo@rotherhamunited.net with the following details and an Accessibility Passport will be sent out to your mailing address.

Disabled Supporters' Room

Rotherham United are delighted to inform supporters that we have now implemented a new Disabled Supporters’ Room on-site at AESSEAL New York Stadium, which will be in operation prior to today’s Sky Bet Championship fixture with Millwall.

Going right back to when the designs of our new home were conceived, we have always strived to ensure that AESSEAL New York Stadium offers everyone the opportunity to watch the Millers in both comfort and safety and whilst our disabled facilities have come in for much praise from both home and away supporters alike over the years, we are always looking at ways in which we can improve our matchday experienced right across the board.

In conjunction with the Rotherham United Disabled Supporters’ Association, we have been able to take on board feedback from our own fans on the matters and as a result, we have been able to amend a number of our practices in line with such suggestions.

One such proposal has been to introduce a facility that our disabled fans can enjoy prior to our home games and we are delighted that this is something we are now able to offer.

Working closely with our Community Sports Trust, the Millers will now be offering access to the new room which will be located on the ground floor of the Community Sports Trust area of the stadium, next to the players entrance.

Use of the room will mean that can provide our disabled supporters with a warm and comfortable environment in which to enjoy the build-up to matches at AESSEAL New York Stadium and will be open from an hour and half before kick off.

Changing Places Facility

Rotherham United are delighted to inform supporters that we have now implemented a new Changing Places facility at AESSEAL New York Stadium, which will be in operation prior to Saturday's Sky Bet Championship hosting of Bristol City at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Making AESSEAL New York Stadium a comfortable and welcoming environment in which everyone can come and enjoy their football has always been of paramount importance to us and in conjunction with the Rotherham United Disabled Supporters' Association, we have been able to take on useful feedback from our own fans and as a result, deliver a whole host of new practices and suggestions.

Led by our very own Community Sports Trust, we recently introduced our new Disabled Supporters' Room on-site at AESSEAL New York Stadium which is managed by volunteers from RUDSA, we identified another area in which we could improve and that was introducing an adult changing facility to those that need it an appropriate and dignified space in order to receive the privacy they deserve.

As well as a donation from RUDSA, our Community Sports Trust received funding in order to implement the new facility, with the purpose-built space including adjustable ventures, sinks and toilets, with a shower and modern heating and lighting, making the room economically efficient.

This facility is located in the Eric Twigg Pukka Pies West Stand behind turnstiles 5 - 8. We reccommend that any supporters who require the use of the facility purchase tickets in this area of the West Stand. If you are seated in any other area of the ground and require teh use of the facility on a match day, please speak to your nearest steward who will make arrangements for you to access the room.
